An Act of Love on Valentine’s Day

This isn’t just Valentine’s Day; it’s also National Donor Day.  Are you registered as an organ donor?  If you have moral reservations, most religions recognize the practice as an act of generous love toward a co-member of our human family.  Too old or sick?  Nope.  Older donors are accepted, even people with  health issues.  Costs too much?  No again.  There isn’t any cost to donors or their families.

If you aren’t registered yet, Valentine’s Day is the perfect day to do it.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Post-July 4 Country Love

I may be two days late, but…oh well….  I just really liked these pictures depicting the goodness of our country.  I think you’ll like them, too.  Visit “Thirteen Photos that will Make You Fall in Love with America All Over Again.”

God HAS blessed America!

Love at First Site (Re-Posted With Correct Video)

This video fascinated me. A photographer throws strangers together, people who likely would not even say “hello” to each other as they passed on the streets, people who seem quite different from each other.  What happens makes me think about what could occur if such pairings were made on a large-scale basis.

Pope Identifies God’s Name

You don’t have to be Catholic or another branch of Christianity to understand and accept Pope Francis’ short message:

The Pope clearly identifies the name accepted in all non-violent religions.

Ongoing Thanksgiving

Usually on Thursdays I offer you a short quote (a “Thursday Thought”).  But I took yesterday off to enjoy Thanksgiving with my family.  The gathering of our small family brought joy to my heart, and that joy brought even more gratitude.  So today I pass on to you a little of what I am thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving YEAR!

Jane Goodall Looks at Humans

You might think that a British anthropologist who studies animal behavior has her mind somewhere else but in the human world.  Not true of Jane Goodall, who is also U.N.  Messenger of Peace.  Her experiences and studies have led her to the conclusion offered in today’s Thursday Thought:

“WE HAVE SO FAR TO GO TO REALIZE OUR HUMAN POTENTIAL FOR COMPASSION, ALTRUISM, AND LOVE.”  — FROM HARVEST FOR HOPE: A GUIDE TO MINDFUL EATING

An Idea for Valentine’s Day

Last-minute gift idea: Give your Valentine a locally-grown plant to enjoy for a long time rather than a bouquet of short-lasting flowers which traveled great distances to get here.  (80% of the flowers sold in the U.S. come from Colombia and Ecuador.)  It’s a loving gift that will last months or years to come, reminding that special someone of your love.

Origin of Love and Hate

In today’s Thursday Thought, Nelson Mandela has an interesting theory on how we come to love and hate:

“People must learn to hate and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.” – Nelson Mandela

End-of-Day Questions

I wouldn’t mind this one for my epitaph:

Don’t Talk About Your Religion…Unless

Cory Booker is spot-on in what he says in this Thoughtful Thursday quote:
