The Only Moon that’s Cold but Super

Well, the only Super Moon for 2017. Don’t miss it tomorrow night, Dec. 3 (best time is just after sunset). It will be much more spectacular than a normal moon– 16% brighter and 7% larger.  It will be one of Nature’s finest displays.

What IS a Super Moon? What is a Cold Moon?  Why is this a Full Cold Moon? What is the best way for me to view it?  How can I record it?

For the answers to these question, plus a short video explaining a  Super Moon, go to Newsweek’s article at http://www.newsweek.com/supermoon-2017-full-cold-moon-728118.

Tomorrow night…ENJOY!

Colin Kaepernick Gets only Partial Credit/Blame

Whether you approve of Colin Kaepernick’s kneeling or not, it’s important to note that his protests against social injustice are not new to sports.  The 1996 Olympics, Muhammad Ali, and Lebron James are a few more examples. And each one experienced backlash for their actions. This short video puts activism among athletes into perspective.

America, Fight and Be Inspired

This short video was for 4th of July, but, with all the bad stuff happening right now, I needed it today.  There’s so much violence in our country, and other forms of man’s inhumanity to man, that we’re forgetting a basic fact: we are all  Americans.  And, despite evil deeds by a minority of us, we have a lot to be proud of.  Most important, together, we can unite and fight and defeat the evil that’s among us.

Watch this video of long-time actors, many of whom are no longer with us, as they ask God to bless America. Be inspired and revitalized.

[Thanks to Jim Knudsen for sending this to me.]

I “See” U, Little Baby

If you love babies and have a little time, take a tip from this “ICU Grandpa.”  He makes a big difference in the lives and health of babies who are starting life–barely–more vulnerable than other babies, and whose lives may very well be projected in terms of hours rather than years.  Watch this video and, if this is something you can do, call local hospitals to find out about their baby-nurturing programs.

She is MY Sunshine

This video is proof that children are born knowing the right thing to do. Add some nurturing from parents, and we have someone who may be very short but we can’t help looking up to.

Ellen DeGeneres Offers Hope

I needed a dose of good old fashioned positive HOPE. Too much  tragedy, death and destruction from disasters, threat of war and fallout from nuclear-testing in my Pacific Ocean (I live in California), senseless shootings…. These are far from happy times.

But Ellen DeGeneres had a message of hope that’s uplifting without being maudlin.  If you missed it, here it is:  (Thank you, Ellen.)

Start Your Week on a Positive Note

This  video (really a Japanese commercial) proves my philosophy of Small things count. You may need a tissue, especially at the end, when you see results.

I just felt like starting the week with something uplifting.

Clothing Out of Waste

Meet Zero Waste Daniel.  He makes clothing…and helps the Earth.  He’s part of the Zeo Waste Movement.  In his case, he collects the tons of textiles that clothing manufacturers toss into the landfill and makes unique wearable items.  See how he does it:

There’s a “Service Dog” in Every Home

I felt like starting the week on a lighter note. No message or  moralizing.  This is just about dogs who perform services for us every day.  But you just need to be an animal-lover in general to enjoy it.  (If it doesn’t play right, go to https://www.facebook.com/thepetcollective/videos/1804173109597486/.)

A Joy-Ride for Seniors

Check out this video.  It’s  a great idea.  There  must be SOME way we could do this in our own communities.
