When I saw this I had to pass it on, because it expresses the feeling that has been pouring out of my gut for a very long time. I believe this attitude is what will cure our sick nation.

Get it Right, Reps!
Are you as sick as I am of the Republican and Democratic Parties? The fact that they’re so stuck on their own agendas that they aren’t getting anything meaningful done? John F. Kennedy had the right idea. I think every Democratic and Republican elected representative should copy today’s Thursday Thought quote and tape it to their bathroom mirror…and to their desk in their legislative chamber.
The Irony of Voter Fraud
OK, fellow irony-lovers, here’s another one for us. And I mean it to be taken in the spirit of irony, not politics, please.
Steve Curtis didn’t just promote the voter-fraud controversy, he blamed it on the Democrats. Which, I admit, is reasonable for this conservative talk-show host and ex-Colorado Republican Party chairman.
Then–allegedly–he used his ex-wife’s 2016 mail-in ballot to vote for the candidates and issues of his choice, forging her name on it.
Isn’t that voter fraud? And isn’t he NOT a Democrat?
Read the story from The Washington Post or US News.com or Fox or a bunch of other news outlets. Seems like the media enjoys a good bit of irony as much as I do.
Debatable Entertainment
I watched the whole Democratic debate! I wasn’t able to get through any more than an hour of the Republican debate. What was the difference for me? With the Republicans, I lost patience with rudeness, name-calling, ethnic/sexist comments, and basic back-alley fghting. I was learning the candidates’ personalities but not their stands, plans, and views (except, of course, that all democrats–especially Hillary Clinton–are unintelligent, evil demons).
The Democrats were far different. They showed respect for one another, even when they had a direct-confrontation disagreement. They attempted to stay on-topic most of the time. They showed a friendly rivalry. Actually, to me, they seemed like people who wanted to win us over with what they felt are their strengths, not entertain us with an episode of “Political Tuesday-Night Fights.”
The elections are far enough away to allow time to win the minds and hearts of voters. But unless the Republican candidates stop acting like spoiled, unruly children, this voter won’t bother trying to listen to them any longer.
Even The Donald is no longer entertaining.
Third Political Party is Devious
No, I’m not talking about the Tea Party being a third political party. Looking at how much is budgeted to be spent, though, there IS another party. The Republicans, Democrats, and Koch brothers each plan to spend close to 900 million dollars to win the 2016 elections.
Where is the Koch Party’s pot of gold coming from? Mainly from non-profit groups who, by the way, aren’t required by law to disclose who their contributors are, unlike the Democratic and Republican parties. So, who is contributing how much? Are the Kochs footing most of the bill and, therefore, buying most of the influence to get their ultra-conservative agenda and candidates in? Who else is pouring money into the pot, and whom or what do they represent?
If the Kochs want to act like a political party, they should at least have to abide by the same disclosure rules and make it clear whom and what they’re supporting so we voters can make more informed decisions.
I Trust our New Republican Congress
That’s a big statement from someone who has spent considerable time lambasting the GOP for acting like spoiled toddlers in their blocking anything based on its being presented by a Democrat or by the-man-who-must-be-stopped, Pres. Obama.
Why my change of heart? Because this Congress includes new people who, I believe, ran for office because they truly want to make our nation a fair, just, and livable place for all of its citizens and, presumably, they affiliate with the GOP based on its founding principles at the birth of our nation, principles that promised to protect and help the common man. Principles which have been ignored in recent times.
I believe, too, that these new members have the excitement and fire of being in a new position of influence and that they will use that to convince the rest of their party to re-learn compromise, compassion, and civility. And how to act as adults.
Over the last few years my nation has been harmed so badly, my fellow citizens driven into so much despair, we MUST have reached rock bottom. That’s why I believe. Because I have to.
New Political Party Worth Considering
Tired of the Democrats, Republicans, and other political parties, including the semi-Republican Tea Party? About a year ago I proposed an alternative, and today–National Coffee Day–is the perfect time to propose it again.
Join our Coffee Party. We’ll offer alert, robust candidates who have never bean influenced by special-interest drips, intelligent men and women who let an idea percolate before making a decision. In fact, Juan Valdez, an excellent example, heads our Board.
We’ll energize American politics and fill all American’s empty cups with hope. We’ll stop trouble before it begins to brew.
So, wake up, Dear Reader, and join our grande Coffee Party today. You know you won’t be able to sleep until you do.
Anti-Anti?
It’s a little confusing, but it had to happen–pendulums being pendulums. It seems that people are discovering that all those tax cuts and breaks for the wealthy are destroying their middle-class everyday services, such as police and fire protection, schools, and libraries. They want those services and are willing to pay for them.
This is leading to a new attitude: anti-anti tax cuts. It’s so serious in Kansas, a staunch Republican state, that people are saying they’re ready to vote in a Democrat for Governor so they have a chance at recovering the services they want and need. Kansas farmers are really upset, but many other citizens are also watching their state go broke. They see less and less money coming into the coffers while all the belts have been tightened so far they’re binding up people’s vital internal organs.
The anti-anti tax cut attitude is spreading. It will be interesting to see how many of the 30 states currently with Republican governors stay Republican after the next election or if that party decides it would be wise to pull back on their current tax stance.
Wisdom of J.F.K.
If our legislators would only heed J.F.K.’s advice!
Okay, lawmakers…about that Farm Bill and filibustering….
