I’ve been happy with my friendly local Walgreens. It’s near-by, I get some good deals on their sales, and the people there are friendly. Now I learn that they’re taking their Medicare/Medicaid earnings (masking up 1/4 of their income) and my dollars and fleeing the scene. They’re one of the latest companies to take advantage of “tax inversion.” That is, they’ll not touch our familiar Walgreens stores but move their corporate headquarters to a tax-haven, a place that allows them to avoid paying U.S. tax on the U.S. money we gave them. It’s a nice little loophole for them and other corporations, but it cheats our economy out of funds that pay for our government, military, health, safety, and safety nets.

If this bothers you, inform Walgreens CEO and President Gregory Wassen. Sign the petition at the Credo Mobilize site. If enough Walgreens custormers let him know of our disapproval, he may very well calculate how many customers–and how much financial loss–he’ll face and decide to do the right thing.
When did it become legal for walgreens pharmacists to dictate what medicines I can take and in what combination when a doctor who is fully aware of their entire medical history, including current medications feels it’s necessary based on their conditions? Millions of people suffer multiple conditions yet you train your pharmacists to diagnose, treat and pick and choose who can and can not receive their necessary medications. I didn’t realize they had medical degrees. I have been a loyal walgreens customer and jad all my scripts filled there and most of my shopping was done at the walgreens at the beginning of my neighborhood. I was a daily shopper but your pharmacists are allowed to diagnose and judge someone based on looks and even what customers they like or don’t like. It’s disgusting and an abuse of a position. Will never step foot in a walgreens again. I have been getting the same medications for years due to several major spine surgeries and the pharmacist who was originally there left and the new pharmacist laughs in my face and denies me necessary medication in order to function. Bye bye walgreens. You give your pharmacists the power of God! Makes me sick!! To deny honest citizens their necessary medications based on profiling is disgusting! Lost this shopper forever and I will discourage every one I know to boycott your stores!
Wow, Andrea, you really had a bad experience. If there were a law or regulation that the pharmacist needed to follow, he/she should have explained that to you (drug laws are always changing). The same with if it relates to a Walgreens company policy. Otherwise, it seems that the pharmacist’s job is to fill valid Rxs, be sure the patient understands how to take therm, and warn of possible side-effects or interactions with other drugs. I don’t understand why you were denied the filling of your valid Rx. DO take the issue to higher levels in the company at least, then maybe to the Board who regulates and licences pharmacists and pharmacies. Good luck. Please let me know what happens.
Has anyone else had this experience?
