I’m encouraged by how Pres. Obama and N.J. Gov. Chris Christie are treating each other. They’re at opposite ends of the political spectrum–as Gov. Christie has clearly and bluntly pointed out often during the campaign. Yet, when disaster struck, Mr. Obama acted with speed and grace, and Gov. Christie accepted his help graciously and with gratitude. He felt comfortable reaching out to ask the President for what N.J. needed, and he received personal assurances AND rapid follow-through.
If this hard-core Democrat and never-say-die Republican can come together for the good of the people, can’t the rest of our lawmakers do the same? No matter who is elected tomorrow, let’s hope that the example set by Obama and Christie does NOT go unheeded. Let’s get some cooperation–the lack thereof which has caused so much grief–that will take our country into full recovery.
